Tuesday Homework, Fast Food

I'm very happy to welcome three new students to our class: Eman, Fatima, and Rika!  I'm especially happy to see Eman because she was in my Intermediate level class many months ago.  It's the first time I could teach a student who has worked her way up to proficiency!  I look forward to getting to know all of you better.

Today, we went over the test in detail, heard a very professional presentation about fast food by Nicolas, and discussed several topics about fast food:  how bad or good it is for us, what the government should do about it, if anything, etc.

Here is a famous movie about fast food called "Supersize Me," currently available on Youtube.  There are subtitles in Czech, but the move is in English for those of you who want to practice their listening skills.    It features a healthy, vegan guy who decides to conduct an experiment on himself by eating at McDonalds for a month.  What do you think happens to him?

Hurry up and watch it before Youtube removes it!

If you're skeptical about the validity of this documentary, you may wish to balance your point of view by watching Fat Head, which is also available on Youtube, and which I post below.  (We live in amazing times!)

This was made by a guy who thought that Supersize me was baloney (a cheap type of sausage and also a slang term for something which is dishonest or inaccurate).  He ate at McDonalds for a month too, but the results were a bit different.  Who are we to believe?  Check it out!  It's pretty good.

Of course, we have a little homework: only Exercise 1 on page 63.   We'll check it together in class tomorrow.

Don't forget to send me your essays if you have not done so already, come early tomorrow to catch Janet's presentation, and have a great evening.
